Dorfold Hall Wedding Videographer

Emma and Alex’s wedding at Dorfold Hall, a Grade I listed Jacobean house just outside Nantwich. Their film keeps the whole day: the walk up the drive, the vows, the speeches and that evening light over the gardens.

Their day

A Summer wedding at Dorfold Hall

Absolutely loved filming Emma & Alex’s wedding at Dorfold Hall! From the moment I arrived, everyone was so welcoming, and the bridal prep room was stunning. The old wooden walls made the perfect backdrop for the details, and filming the dress in the old bedroom, surrounded by all that original wood, was a real highlight.

Then the ceremony… just wow. The flowers in the ceremony room were absolutely beautiful, courtesy of Taylor Made Blooms. Straight after came the confetti shot, one of my favourite parts of any wedding, and it did not disappoint! I even got the drone up to capture it from another angle.

Cocktail hour was fab. We had an absolute ball with the bridal party and the groomsmen, filming them walking, laughing and generally having fun. Then it was on to couple portraits, and when you’ve got a couple as good-looking as Emma & Alex, it makes my job so much easier!

I loved the entrance into the wedding breakfast. I filmed everyone’s reactions as Emma & Alex walked into the room, then panned round to catch them coming in. I loved how the tables were set up for this one too: instead of the usual round tables scattered around the room, everyone was sat together. The speeches were incredible, and Alex absolutely smashed his!

Next up was a sparkler tunnel, and it definitely didn’t disappoint (it never does!). Then on to the first dance and the party, which was full of energy from start to finish. Everyone had the best time, so a big thank you to DJ Adam Carr for playing all the best tunes!

Filming a wedding at Dorfold Hall

Dorfold Hall sits in the village of Acton, a mile outside Nantwich. The house was built between 1616 and 1621 for Ralph Wilbraham, and it’s still a family home today. It’s Grade I listed, with red brick, stone detailing and tall Jacobean windows, so it looks incredible on camera from every angle.

The grounds are part of the reason couples choose it. A long tree-lined drive leads up to the house, and the parkland around it was redesigned in the 1860s by William Nesfield, with a lake that catches the light beautifully in the evening. The venue holds civil, celebrant and outdoor ceremonies for up to 160 guests.

Tips from a videographer

Getting the best film at Dorfold Hall

01

The drive

Arriving up the tree-lined drive makes a great opening shot. Let me know your arrival time and I’ll be set up and waiting.

02

The front of the house

The brick front and big windows work best in soft light. Five minutes here after the ceremony is plenty for a few portraits.

03

Golden hour by the lake

Plan a short walk out to the gardens about an hour before sunset. It’s usually the shot couples love most in their film.

04

Plan for the weather

Dorfold has great spots inside the house too, so a rainy day still looks beautiful. We’ll agree a wet-weather plan before the day.
